SAGT - Sheffield Area Geology Trust

SAGT - Sheffield Area Geology Trust
The Sheffield Area Geology Trust (SAGT) was formed in September 2008, and incorporated the South Yorkshire RIGS (Regionally Important Geological Sites) Group (SYRG) and the Sheffield Building Stones Group. These groups were established in 1991 and 1999 respectively and covered the district Local Authority areas within South Yorkshire, including the area within the Peak District National Park.
SAGT is a small group of (mostly) retired geologists - all volunteers, who work on geology projects in South Yorkshire on a part-time basis. We receive no regular funding. SAGT is a not-for-profit group which promotes the appreciation and understanding of earth science and also the conservation of geological sites in South Yorkshire. We have established links with universities and are happy to liaise with tutors as they find local projects for their students to undertake.
