About the Event

Join us for an afternoonn of short talks from different community groups making our community greener together.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of short talks from people actively involved in protecting and improving Sheffield’s environment and green spaces.

As part of Sheffield Environment Weeks, this β€œcommunity talks” session brings together a range of local groups, campaigners and community projects. Each speaker will give a short 10-minute introduction to their work, followed by the opportunity for questions.

The session will highlight practical environmental action happening across the city β€” from urban nature and community growing to plastic reduction, local history, sustainable living and moorland protection.

Speakers include:

  • Jenny Morton β€” Hillsborough History Group

  • Sarah Emberson β€” Darnall Allotment Project & Green City Action

  • Louise Bull β€” Friends of Parkwood Springs

  • Clive Swinscoe β€” Moorland Monitors: Reclaim the Moors

  • Verity Brack β€” Friends of Loxley Cemetery

  • Carmel Page β€” Storyteller and mindful consumption champion

  • Barbara Bristow β€” Well Field Community Farm (Greave House Farm Trust)

  • Greg β€” Sheffield Action on Plastic

  • Calvin Payne β€” Hidden Walks Sheffield

This is a great opportunity to discover the wide range of grassroots environmental activity happening in Sheffield, meet the people behind it, and find ways to get involved.
