Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 2:30 PM

📍 Venue: Outside Firth Court on Western Bank

Firth Court Western Bank Sheffield, S10 2TN

About the Event

The University of Sheffield developed from three local institutions: the Sheffield School of Medicine, Firth College and the Sheffield Technical School. On 31 May 1905 the University of Sheffield was granted its Royal Charter, and in July the new Firth Court Building on Western Bank was opened by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.

This walk will feature every architectural style over the 120 year period.

We will start our walking tour outside Firth Court on Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN and finish at the Mappin Building at 7 Mappin Street, Sheffield S1 4DT. We will then walk to West Street for the buses.

Tickets must be booked in advance through The Victorian Society as places are limited.
