Totley Walk

Day: Every Wednesday

Time: 10.20 in time to start walking at 10.30am

Meet: Outside Totley library, off Baslow Road,   S17  4DT 

The first Totley Health Walk was in early January 2004. Since then the group has grown and there are often upwards of 20 people on their walks. The meeting point is Totley Library on Baslow Road which is well served by buses. Walkers assemble on the grassy area outside the library from 10.15 onwards in time to start walking at 10.30am. 

The experienced leaders on the Totley walk offer a wide choice of walks from week to week. Totley is very well situated for walking, with lots of greenspace around in every direction. Walkers can choose from a longer walk at a moderate to brisk pace or a shorter, flatter, walk at a gentle to steady pace.  The main walk lasts approximately one hour, the shorter walk may last less, particularly in chilly weather. The library staff make sure that walkers are welcome to socialise inside when they return from their walks. The community library is staffed by volunteers, and one of the ways they raise funds is to sell tea and coffee after the walk. 

Because of the hilly terrain in this area, the Totley Health Walk is unsuitable for wheelchairs. Assist dogs are welcome on this walk but for safety reasons leaders do not encourage other dogs.
