Friends of the Old Town Hall (FOTH)

Friends of the Old Town Hall (FOTH) We are a campaigning group, set up in 2014 to press for the rescue of the Sheffield Old Town Hall, a beautiful and historic former town hall and courthouse. This Grade 2 listed building has been empty since the Crown Court was relocated to West Bar in 1996. It’s been owned since 2004 by a London-based property development company. It’s in a serious state of disrepair, heavily damaged by water, partly collapsing inside, dirty and neglected. We believe this situation is totally unacceptable. The Old Town Hall is an important asset for Sheffield; we want it back in use as the flagship building in Castelgate. The Old Town Hall is named as one of 10 at-risk buildings by the Campaign Against Delinquent Ownership (CADO) In 2007, the Victorian Society placed it on their list of most at-risk buildings in the whole of the UK. We are working in partnership with Sheffield City Council, The Heritage Lottery Fund, the Architectural Heritage Fund, local organisations and others to try to remedy this appalling situation. Please support us. Find more details about who we are and what we’re doing on the site.
