Description Join Friends of Wardsend cemetery to hear about the evening of 3rd June 1862, when a riot broke out at Wardsend Cemetery in the Hillsborough district of Sheffield. The disturbance was a direct reaction to rumours that the Reverend John Livesey and his sexton Isaac Howard were involved in the practice of bodysnatching. Please note there is no disabled access to the cemetery. This is something we are keen to rectify in the future. There is a small car park on front of the cemetery looking over the River and some on street parking on Livesey Street before the bridge.
