Description We are a Friends group who have bought a small historic graveyard to prevent it being destroyed. We are preserving it as a historic and wildlife site. Drop in to say hello. Meet volunteers working to create a peaceful wildlife haven in the midst of industrial Attercliffe. This beautiful sanctuary will whisk you back into a forgotten era while the stories of those buried there will bring alive this once vibrant community. Visit the grave of Anti-Slavery Campaigner Mary Anne Rawson and the Read family of Wincobank Hall who were involved in many social campaigns to improve the life of the poor and oppressed through the world.Find out about some of the other members of the Zion congregation buried during the 19th century. Visitors and relatives of those buried at Zion are welcome to come and have a look around and talk to volunteers about the history of the graveyard. Help us piece together the story of Zion Church community. There will be art activities for children and those children bringing a CU Passport will receive CU learning Credits if they bring their Passport to Learning as part of Sheffield Children's University programme. Entrance is at the corner of Zion Lane & Lawrence Street or at the very end of Ferguson Street there is a gate which now provides a level access suitable pushchairs, wheelchair and the less mobile.
