Description | In this illustrated talk, Patrick Harding and Jean Binney explore aspects of Ruskin’s legacy in Sheffield. Reflecting his broad interests, the talk touches on Ruskin’s advice on drawing, courses in botanical illustration and locally produced books about the regions flora, old and new. This fast-paced and varied session includes archive material, original art work and herbarium specimens. There will be an opportunity to view items up close after the talk. Patrick Harding is an ecologist, writer and broadcaster. Jean Binney is Chair of the Northern Society of Botanical Art. 2019 marks the bicentenary of Ruskin's birth and this is part of a season of talks, events and activities at Sheffield Central Library celebrating the ideas and legacies of John Ruskin Events are all free but must be booked in advance via www.sheffieldlibraries.eventbrite.co.uk |
