Description Norfolk Arms Walking Festival - Walk no 2 - Long Causeway. This is a 8.25 miles walk leaving from the pub which after passing the source of the River Porter takes us across Brown Edge with it's quarrying history before reaching Rud Hill and history of another kind with details of a tragic WW2 air crash. After crossing the desolate White Stones area we reach Long Causeway, the ancient Roman Road and the iconic Stanedge Pole, a guide for travellers for over 500 years. After touching on Stanage Edge it's over to Burbage Moor to make our last stop at the Ox Stones rocky outcrop before we walk through Lady Cannings Plantation to return to the start. Stout footwear is a necessity on this walk as there are a number of boggy stretches, as well as uneven and rocky paths. Meet at the pub at 10 am for tea/coffee and to register, with the walk commencing at 10.30 prompt. £12 charge payable to the pub includes hot drinks before and after the walk and also lunch from the pub's menu.
