Description | Celts and Celtic Art In recent years the Celts and Celtic art has been presented quite differently from the story most widely read in British and Irish history books. Definitions in the late 19th and 20th century have used language, art, burial rites, material culture and genetics to try to define the Celts but the methodology and theories behind them are fatally flawed, yet still perpetuated by outdated presentations in the media. Emeritus Professor John Collis helps to unpick the puzzle and explains how new approaches involve a fundamental re-writing of British and Irish history.
