Description | Dr Mark Avery is a writer about nature, the environment and the politics of how to conserve the natural world. His latest book, Inglorious - conflict in the uplands, spells out the case against driven grouse shooting. Mark worked for the RSPB for 25 years, as conservation director for 13 of them, but went freelance in 2011. Mark was recently listed as number 14 in BBC Wildlife's Power List.
